We are so excited to announce that THE PIGs have just been awarded a 3* Food Made Good Rating from the Sustainable Restaurant Association.
The Sustainable Restaurant Association, or SRA for short, work to support positive change across the global food service industry. Their industry standard sustainability framework, the Food Made Good Rating, and global community provides over 10,000 kitchens around the world with all the tools they need to be leaders in sourcing and serving sustainable food – highlighting the need to focus on the food that’s sourced and served, as well as the impact that has on the people growing, rearing, cooking and serving it, as well, of course, on the planet.
Since we opened our first PIG in the New Forest in 2011, we have been obsessively focused on sourcing locally and working closely with our valued suppliers, always striving to operate in a responsible way and considering the impact we have on our communities and the environment - whether that’s growing our own veggies, fruit and even mushrooms, rearing our own livestock, bottling water on-site, cutting down food waste and packaging, seeking out sustainable suppliers and charity partners, getting into beekeeping or improving our composting skills.
In that very first year of opening, with just one PIG in the litter, we were awarded the highly regarded SRA 3* rating, and even won ‘Sustainable Restaurant of the Year’ at the National Restaurant Awards in 2012, and so now 12 years, on we are so incredibly proud to have been able to continue to uphold this top level accreditation. It is very much a reflection of all of our teams’ hard work their and deep commitment to creating restaurants that are a force for good in the world.
