Meet Fielden Whisky...

our new pour behind the bar!

There’s still a little summer left to enjoy, and we’re making the most of it with a new pour behind the bar... say hello to Fielden Whisky!

Like us, Fielden takes plenty of inspiration from our home soil and all that the English countryside has to offer. Their whisky starts in the fields, made using rye grown to work with the landscape around it. Rye is a hardy crop that requires less intervention to grow, encouraging a little more life to thrive alongside it.

From there, the grain makes its way through some of England’s best whisky-making hands, from traditional floor maltsters in Wiltshire to distillation in Suffolk, before being laid down in casks on the edge of the Chilterns.

The result? A full-bodied English rye whisky with notes of buttery pastry, caramel and hazelnut, alongside a bright floral aroma and a peppery finish. It’s a whisky made to stand up in a cocktail just as happily as it does in a glass on its own.

One for the last of summer

To celebrate Fielden arriving behind our bars, Group Bar Manager Sam Vesey recently headed to THE PIG-near Bath to mix up something for those last golden evenings of the season.

Taking inspiration from the Kitchen Garden, the End of Summer Spritz brings together Fielden Rye Whisky with elderflower, lemon verbena and peach for a fresh, fragrant drink with just enough spice from the rye.

Fancy having a go yourself? Here’s how to make it.

End of Summer Spritz

You’ll need:

  • 35ml Fielden Rye Whisky

  • 12.5ml St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur

  • 5ml Suze

  • 5ml Supasawa

  • 15ml lemon verbena cordial

  • 100ml Cellular Elderflower Peach Soda

  • A lemon verbena leaf, to garnish

To make:

Add the Fielden Rye Whisky, St-Germain, Suze, Supasawa and lemon verbena cordial to a glass filled with ice. Top with the Elderflower Peach Soda, give everything a gentle stir and finish with a lemon verbena leaf.

Or, better yet, leave it to us.

You’ll now find Fielden behind the bars across THE PIGs, ready to be enjoyed however you like.

Find a sunny spot, settle in for the evening and make the most of what’s left of summer.
