Where the Sunday meal sets the pace
The forest starts where the garden stops, so the usual order of a Sunday here is a long walk and then a long lunch. There's a roast on the 25 mile menu every week, sometimes two, written on the morning around what's come in from our suppliers and what the Kitchen Garden has ready. Beef or a free range pork belly, herb roast potatoes, a Yorkie, greens and gravy.
Go out first and come back hungry!
A proper Sunday, served course by course

On Sundays, THE PIG offers a proper Sunday lunch menu, inspired by what’s growing in the Kitchen Garden and sourced from Somerset neighbours just beyond it.
You can expect familiar Sunday flavours given the PIG treatment - generous portions, seasonal sides and plates that reward taking your time. Think whole hams glazed to perfection, chooks roasted until the skin crackles and extra treats to go with the classic trimmings, like cheesy leeks, pork scratchings with apple sauce (just because) and homegrown parsnips.
Order what you love and have it your way – it’s your handpick of the menu

A long, easy Sunday over at ours
Make a day of it at THE PIG
Sunday lunch might be the main event, but it’s never the whole story. At THE PIG, Sundays are about giving yourself the day - time to arrive slowly, eat well, linger afterwards and let the afternoon unfold naturally. There’s no rush, no clock watching and no pressure to be anywhere else. Just good food, good company and a whole Sunday to enjoy it.

Ease into the countryside (and work up an appetite)
Arrive with time on your side and start the day with a wander through the grounds or our free daily Kitchen Garden tour, where you’ll see what’s growing, what’s in season and what might be appearing on the menu later. It’s the perfect way to stretch your legs, clear your head and work up a proper appetite.
For those keen to explore further, the surrounding New Forest offers gentle walks and open views - ideal for a slow Sunday stroll before lunch.

A pre‑lunch pause
Back at our house, settle into the bar for a good glass of something. We’ll have the fires lit on the days that need it and the doors open onto the garden when the sun shows up – either way, it’s a relaxed moment to ease into the day and gather everyone together before heading to the table.

Take your time at the table
Sunday lunch sits at the heart of the day. Plates arrive at an easy pace, conversation flows, and the table is yours to enjoy for as long as you like. This is comforting Sunday food cooked with care - the kind that rewards taking your time.

Stay put for the afternoon
There’s no need to rush off when the last mouthful is done. Having you over to ours feels like having old friends to stay, where you can retreat to the lounge and sink into a squashy sofa with a freshly brewed cup of coffee, crack out a board game, or settle into a quiet corner with a good book. Sundays are for savouring all the good bits - and our house is made for exactly that.

Turn Sunday into a full reset
If the thought of heading home feels a bit soon, stay the night. Wake up to misty New Forest views and a PIG breakfast - the gentlest way to start the week ahead.

Sunday Lunch FAQs
Do all PIGs offer Sunday roasts?
All PIGs are open and have lunch on the menu on a Sunday, but four of our PIGs (THE PIG-on the beach, THE PIG-in the South Downs, THE PIG-near Bath and THE PIG-at Bridge Place) now have a separate Sunday roast menu.
We can’t wait to welcome you in!
What’s on the menu?
Our Sunday lunch menu at THE PIG-near Bath is a proper celebration of classic British roasts with all the trimmings, served in the middle of the table in big, generous dishes made for sharing and passing around. No week is the same – each Sunday brings a fresh line-up of serious roasts, celebrating what’s in season, what’s fresh from the Kitchen Garden that morning, and what’s at its best from our local supplier friends down the road. Take a peek at a sample Sunday roast menu here.
Can I bring the family?
Of course! You’ll find roast options for piglets on our Sunday lunch menus, to keep weekends relaxed and unfussy with something for everyone. The whole gang is welcome, and we couldn’t be happier to see you.
