a sunday worth lingering over

Sundays in Somerset

THE PIG-near Bath

Give yourself the whole Sunday

Sunday lunch here is a roast on the 25 mile menu, sometimes two of them, written up fresh that morning by chefs who've had a look at what's come in and what's ready in the garden. It might be beef, it might be a free range pork belly. There'll be herb roast potatoes, a Yorkie, something green that was in the ground thia morning, and gravy worth asking for more of.

Bath is close enough for a morning in town beforehand, though plenty of people skip that bit and come straight up into the Mendips. The Kitchen Garden is through the doors and worth twenty minutes before you sit down.

A long, easy Sunday over at ours

Make a day of it at THE PIG-near Bath

In our book, Sundays are the best day of the week – and, in our house, they’re not just about carving out a couple of hours for lunch. It’s the final full stop on the last 7 days and you deserve to slow down, unwind and enjoy every minute of it.

Take a pause and unplug with a gentle walk through the Kitchen Garden, eat well, linger afterwards (there’s no rush to have the table back here), and let the afternoon unfold naturally.

There’s no rush, no clock‑watching and no pressure to be anywhere else. Just good food, good company and a whole Sunday to enjoy it.

Ease into the countryside

Arrive with time on your side and start the day with a wander through the grounds or our free daily Kitchen Garden tour, where you’ll see what’s growing, what’s in season and what might be appearing on the menu later. It’s the perfect way to stretch your legs, clear your head and work up a proper appetite.

For those keen to explore further, the surrounding Somerset countryside offers gentle walks and open views - ideal for a slow Sunday stroll before lunch.
