Leave the week behind in the Somerset countryside
(because planning is overrated)
Some of the best weekends start with a last-minute decision. A gap in the diary, a sudden urge to get away, a bottle of something good waiting to be opened.
THE PIG-near Bath is tucked away in the Somerset countryside, surrounded by rolling hills, honey-coloured villages and some of the West Country's best-loved landscapes. With a Kitchen Garden at its heart, Bath just down the road and countryside stretching out in every direction, it's the sort of place where plans can wait. No agenda required. Just fresh air, good food and a slower pace of life.
The kind of few days you didn't plan, but ended up being your favourite.
We're often asked which PIG to book for a spontaneous stay. THE PIG-near Bath has a way of making the decision for you.
Honey-coloured stone villages, rolling Somerset hills, the Georgian beauty of Bath just down the road, and a kitchen garden that shapes every menu. Pack a bag, head for the countryside and leave the rest to us.

24 unplanned hours at
THE PIG-near Bath

Morning
Wake up slowly. The views from the main house stretch out across the kitchen garden and rolling Somerset countryside beyond, worth pausing over with a cup of tea before breakfast. The garden team are already at work, gathering the day's ingredients just steps from the kitchen. Take your time; there's no need to rush, and nowhere else you need to be.

Late morning
Pull on your boots and head out into the Somerset countryside. Gentle rolling hills, winding lanes and far-reaching views make it easy to while away a morning at your own pace, with the kind of quiet that takes about twenty minutes to properly sink in.
Or make the short trip into Bath for a wander through its handsome Georgian streets. Browse the independent shops and cafés tucked away from the main thoroughfares, stop for a coffee, and take in the city's grand architecture before heading back to the calm of the countryside.

Lunch

Afternoon
A treatment in the Potting Shed, tucked away amongst the gardens. Or if you'd rather be out exploring, Bath is just down the road for a dose of culture and Georgian grandeur, while the surrounding Somerset countryside is dotted with charming villages, local farm shops and scenic walks.
For something a little different, spend an afternoon exploring the market town of Bradford-on-Avon, browse independent makers and antiques, or take a leisurely stroll along the Kennet & Avon Canal before heading back to the house in time for dinner.

Evening
A cocktail in the bar before dinner, mixed with ingredients from the kitchen garden and neighbouring producers. The wine list celebrates some of the best bottles from Somerset and beyond, with plenty of local discoveries alongside old favourites.
Dinner as the evening light fades over the gardens. The 25 Mile Menu is packed with ingredients picked that day or sourced from suppliers just down the road, making every plate a reflection of the season. A nightcap. Bed.

The Next Morning…
Wake up slowly - again. The grazing table is ready when you are and the kitchen garden tour runs at 11am if you'd like to see what's growing before you go.
Then either check out slowly or, if you booked an extra night, do the whole thing again.
