city streets, warm breezes, deli bites

Long summer days in the Southampton

THE PIG-in the wall

This is when our city hideaway really comes into its own

Tucked within the medieval walls of Southampton, our little city-centre bolthole hums with summertime energy. The old stone warms in the sunshine, the streets around us feel that little bit brighter, and there’s every excuse to throw open the windows and let the warm air drift in, preferably with something chilled in hand.

Days are for slow breakfasts and mooching around the city’s shops; evenings for slipping downstairs for deli-bar plates and a glass of something cold, settling in as golden hour washes the old walls in that perfect summer glow.

Outdoor nibbles & tipples

Drop in and make yourself comfy on our outdoor terrace, nestled at the front of our home in the wall. Settle in for fresh, homecooked plates of Piggy Bits, perfect for grazing with great company on long, sun-soaked afternoons or simply sit back, soak up the sunshine and enjoy a glass of something chilled.

What's on the deli-bar menu?

At THE PIG-in the wall, we are all about relaxed deli-dining, rather than the full PIG restaurant experience. Daily deliveries from THE PIG in the New Forest (just 20 minutes away) and nearby Hampshire, Dorset and Isle of Wight suppliers keep menus changing, with deli salads, pies, quiches, Piggy Bits, sharing boards and sweet treats.

Why not pop in for brekkie?

How do you like your eggs in the morning? There’s something grounding about a proper good breakfast - plates piled with morning goodness, coffee poured generously, and nowhere you need to be.

Step Outside: Summer Walks & Garden Wanders

There’s no better time to explore than in summer. Right from our doorstep you’ll find rolling countryside, shady woodland walks and gentle rambles that show off the New Forest at its sun-dappled best, from leafy forest trails to wide open glades.

Our team has pulled together some of their favourite local walks, perfect for working up an appetite before lunch or stretching things out after a slow, sunny breakfast.

Outdoor eats at the Garden Oven

Soak up every last drop of summer and enjoy wood-fired pizzas with good company at our Garden Oven, tucked just outside the hustle and bustle of the main house.

Simply rock up and grab a table for a laid-back bite or a quick drink, there’s no better place to down tools, settle into the sunshine and tuck into some garden-inspired grazing with something cold in hand.

Unwind in the Potting Shed

Our treatment rooms are some of our favourite spots to hide out, tucked away in the peace and quiet of the Kitchen Garden. Sinking into a massage, facial, or scrub while the rest of the world does its thing feels like a really good kind of treat.

It’s time carved out just for you.

Golden hour: Buttered & Baked

After a long, countryside ramble, there’s only one sensible next step. Settle in for Buttered & Baked - generous, comforting and proudly un‑fussy, ‘perfect-for-3pm’ kind of moreish treats.

Think warm, savoury, cheesy, buttery bites and plentiful homebaked sweet things to finish. It’s the perfect pairing for a mid-week spring wander, whether you’re staying the night or just dropping in.

Have teatime, THE PIG way
