a sunday worth lingering over

Sundays in Cornwall

THE PIG-at Harlyn Bay

Where the Sunday meal sets the pace

There's a roast on the 25 mile menu every Sunday, sometimes two, alongside the seafood people come to Cornwall for. The menu goes up on the morning, written around what's come in that week, which is why we can tell you there'll be a roast but not which one. Expect beef or a free range pork belly, herb roast potatoes, a Yorkie and the sort of gravy that makes people quiet for a minute.

Harlyn Bay is at the end of the lane and Padstow is three miles by car, or six if you take the coast path, a decision best made before lunch!

A long, easy Sunday over at ours

Make a day of it at THE PIG-at Harlyn Bay

In our book, Sundays are the best day of the week – and, in our house, they’re not just about carving out a couple of hours for lunch. It’s the final full stop on the last 7 days and you deserve to slow down, unwind and enjoy every minute of it.

Take a pause and unplug with a gentle walk through the Kitchen Garden, eat well, linger afterwards (there’s no rush to have the table back here), and let the afternoon unfold naturally.

There’s no rush, no clock‑watching and no pressure to be anywhere else. Just good food, good company and a whole Sunday to enjoy it.

Ease into the countryside (and work up an appetite)

Arrive with time on your side and start the day with a wander through the grounds or our free daily Kitchen Garden tour, where you’ll see what’s growing, what’s in season and what might be appearing on the menu later. It’s the perfect way to stretch your legs, clear your head and work up a proper appetite.

For those keen to explore further, the surrounding Cornwall countryside offers gentle walks and open views - ideal for a slow Sunday stroll before lunch.

A pre‑lunch pause

Back at our house, settle into the bar for a good glass of something. We’ll have the fires lit on the days that need it, it’s a relaxed moment to ease into the day and gather everyone together before heading to the table.

Take your time at the table

Sunday lunch sits at the heart of the day. Plates arrive at an easy pace, conversation flows, and the table is yours to enjoy for as long as you like. This is comforting Sunday food cooked with care - the kind that rewards taking your time.

Stay put for the afternoon

There’s no need to rush off when the last mouthful is done. Having you over to ours feels like having old friends to stay, where you can retreat to the lounge and sink into a squashy sofa with a freshly brewed cup of coffee, crack out a board game, or settle into a quiet corner with a good book. Sundays are for savouring all the good bits - and our house is made for exactly that.

Sunday Lunch FAQs

Do all PIGs offer Sunday roasts?

Yes every PIG, every Sunday. The roast sits on the 25 mile menu - so you can have the beef while whoever you came with has the fish, nobody has to agree!

What’s on the menu on Sundays?

A roast or two, plus everything else on the 25 mile menu. Recent Sundays across the litter have brought roast sirloin with herb roast potatoes, a Yorkie, carrots, garden cabbage and gravy, and a free range pork belly given the same treatment.

Can I bring the family?

Of course. Sundays at THE PIGs are unfussy by design, and there's room at the table for piglets and grown-ups alike.
