Escape to the Kent countryside and leave the week behind.
(because planning is overrated)
Some of the best weekends start with a last-minute decision. A gap in the diary, a sudden urge to get away, a bottle of something good waiting to be opened.
THE PIG-at Bridge Place is tucked away in the Kent countryside, just outside Canterbury, with rolling farmland, historic villages and the Kent Downs all within easy reach. With a Kitchen Garden at its heart and some of the best of the Garden of England on its doorstep, it's the sort of place where plans can wait. No agenda required. Just fresh air, good food and a slower pace of life.
The kind of few days you didn't plan, but ended up being your favourite.
We're often asked which PIG to book for a spontaneous stay. THE PIG-at Bridge Place has a way of making the decision for you.
Rolling Kent countryside, charming villages, the historic city of Canterbury just down the road, and a Kitchen Garden that shapes every menu. Pack a bag, head for the Garden of England and leave the rest to us.

Morning

Late morning
Pull on your boots and head into the Kent countryside. Footpaths from the house lead through rolling farmland, ancient woodland and the gentle landscapes of the Nailbourne Valley, with plenty of fresh air and big skies along the way. Take your time exploring the surrounding trails and quiet country lanes, this is the sort of place that makes it easy to lose track of time.
Or venture a little further to nearby Canterbury or the Kent Downs, both within easy reach and perfect for an unhurried wander.

Lunch

Evening
A cocktail in the bar before dinner, mixed with ingredients inspired by the Kitchen Garden and the changing seasons. The wine list is packed with bottles from across England and beyond, perfect for discovering something new or settling in with an old favourite.
Dinner follows at a leisurely pace. The 25 Mile Menu is shaped by ingredients from the Kitchen Garden, local producers and the surrounding Kent countryside, making every plate a reflection of the season and this corner of the Garden of England. Take your time, settle in for the evening and let the day wind down naturally.
A nightcap by the fire. Bed.

The Next Morning…
Wake up slowly, again. The grazing table is ready when you are, and if you're feeling curious, join the daily Kitchen Garden tour to see what's growing, what's being picked and what might be appearing on the menu later that day. The gardens, polytunnels and greenhouse are at the heart of everything here.
Then either check out at your own pace or, if you've booked an extra night, head out to explore more of the Kent countryside. Wander the footpaths around the Nailbourne Valley, discover a nearby village or simply linger a little longer at the house. After all, one more day never hurts.
