Our very own home-grown Ben Dunne, who is one of our staff, kicked off the day with an fantastic set. He got the crowd warmed up with a few covers and one of his own originals. To say the team was proud of him would be an understatement!
Nele Needs a Holiday took to the stage next. Everytime something goes wrong in Neles life, she writes a song about it. This results in songs like "Loser's Twist", "I Really Wish I Was A Bitch" and "I Love You But I Google Other People". Her band delivered delightful backing vocals, a whole lot of "shalala" and an instant holiday feeling.
Next up was Eyes For Gertrude! Their female front-women are Hannah Dean and Chantelle Pike, who met at Dartington College of Arts and went on to write material together in Toronto, during 2011. You can get a taste of their music in their video below.
Local boy and 19-year-old singer/songwriter/musician based near Bath, Sam Evans was up next. Sam has performed his unique and original compositions at venues and festivals across the UK, Ireland, Romania and Holland. He played a jazzy, urban vibe that the crowd just had to move to.
Owl in the Sun took to the stage as the sun was warming the crowd up. Blending folky Americana with gypsy swing, Owl in the Sun take their audience 'outside the city way of things' with original songs played on acoustic instruments with lush vocal harmonies.
It was then time for Sudden Death of Stars all the way from Rennes, France. Formed in 2010, they were complete as a band when they found the only sitarist west of Paris. They released a first EP on Parisian label Close Up followed by their debut album 'Getting Up, Going Down' in late 2011.
And just as the sun was beginning to set, Emily and the Woods were up. Emily and The Woods are a London- based band fronted by singer and guitar player Emily Wood, with her brother Benedict Wood on guitar, Dave Bush on drums and bass player Sam Brown.
Our hotly anticipated headliner, Flyte, finished the festival off with an amazing set! Flyte are a young alternative four piece from London. Flyte are currently in the studio writing and recording their debut album and touring around the UK.
All through the afternoon and evening, inbetween sets, we were treated to those guilty pleasure tracks by Shake Tiger Shake. Thanks for those beats Sarah!
