Whether you’re joining us first thing for a Garden Bloody Mary pick-me-up or a late nightcap, we will smash, muddle, blend, shake and throw our way to making you your perfect drink. All of our cocktails are designed with the Kitchen Garden in mind.
Like our restaurant, our aim is to provide high quality products in the most sustainable, local and resourceful way possible.
Our location means we are lucky enough to be surrounded by some award-winning artisan breweries, wineries and distilleries, and you will find them all on our Bar List. Wine brings people together – it is the perfect blend!
We believe that wine and food are all about sharing good times with family and friends, cracking open a bottle and settling into an evening together; wine is very much at the heart of THE PIG experience. Loving local is in our DNA, and when it comes to wine we love nothing more than fruit from our own soil.
With limestone chalk soils, south-facing slopes, and one of the warmest and driest climates in the UK, the patch we call home is the perfect place for growing grape varieties found in sparkling wine.
We even have our very own vineyard here at THE PIG-in the South Downs, and the very first harvest of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Gamy took place in October 2023! Read all about it here.

Sapling Spirits are our go-to vodka and gin, a spirit that adds the extra clean, creamy, and smooth taste to any tipple. Sapling are a carbon neutral, B-Corp certified, climate positive, refillable, regenerative, tree planting team of sustainability champions, who also produce some of the best Vodka and Gin in the UK - their spirits are created using local British ingredients after all!

Pentire Drinks
Pentire are botanical non-alcoholic spirits, based just a stone's throw away from THE PIG-at Harlyn Bay in Cornwall. Their spirits are light, refreshing and best drunk outside (preferably in the sunshine!)…and we can't get enough of them! Distilled using native plants to the Cornwall coastline, Pentire pairs perfectly with our garden-to-glass tipples that the PIG Bar Teams muddle up.

Two Drifters Rum
Time flies when you're having rum... especially when it's from our friends Two Drifters, who produce award winning carbon negative rum! Made with sustainability in mind, Two Drifters was brought to just 12 miles west from our Devon patch, THE PIG-at Combe. You can find Two Drifters behind any of our Bars across the PIGs, so why not try a carbon negative rum based tipple when you can next with us!

Outdoor eating: Outdoor eating on the restaurant terrace at THE PIG-in the South Downs is on a first-come first-served basis, weather dependent for restaurant guests only. If you would like to dine outdoors we advise booking a table during our first lunch sittings at 12 – 12.30 to secure a place in the sun. Please note the restaurant terrace is not bookable.

Breakfast is served in the restaurant at THE PIG-in the South Downs where you can choose to either dig into our PIG grazing breakfast tables or pick something hot from our breakfast menus. Prices range from £15.95-£19.95.
Checking in and outYou can check in from 3pm at THE PIG-in the South Downs, however, you’re more than welcome to arrive earlier to drop off your luggage and explore the gardens.
Check out is by 11am. We ask that you leave your room by this time, but please enjoy the surroundings all day. We can’t guarantee an early check-in or late check-out, but stick around and let us know your plans and we will try our best on the day.

Electric Vehicle ChargingWe currently have eight 7KW Pod Point electrical charging points for vehicles at THE PIG-in the South Downs if you require charging during your visit. You will need to use the POD Point App to access the charger, and will be charged 75p per kWh of charge; overnight charging is required for full charge. Charging will require use of the Pod Point app and a registered account - this can be found at https://pod-point.com/products/driver/app. These POD charging points are fully compatible with all electric cars but please note you must bring your own charging lead. Once your car is fully charged we ask you move it to a regular parking space.

By road
THE PIG-in the South Downs is extremely fortunate to be located within the tranquil hamlet of Madehurst. As you will have observed The South Downs National Park is a rare and environmentally sensitive area, we ask that all guests visiting the hotel help us keep it that way.
So, together with our neighbours, we would be grateful if you could drive with care and consideration when arriving and leaving THE PIG. By adhering to the local speed limit of 20mph and reducing noise pollution as much as possible when travelling through the area we will ensure our neighbours and the wildlife are left safe and undisturbed.
Nearest station
Arundel (10 min drive) and Amberley (9 min drive) Train Stations are right on our doorstep, both served by Southern Rail with direct routes from London.
London Victoria to Amberley or Arundel – Get to Amberley in 1hr 20 mins and Arundel in 1hr 23mins.
London Bridge to Arundel – 1hr 23mins.
London Blackfriars to Arundel – 1hr 35 mins.
You can also reach us easily from several major spots including 58 mins from Brighton, 22 mins from Bognor Regis, 10 mins from Barnham (London main line) and 20 mins from Chichester.

THE PIG-in the South Downs is around 26 miles from London Gatwick Airport, with rail connections to Barham.
