THE PIG is expanding it's litter!

22 May 2013

We are very excited to announce that we have purchased Hunstrete House near Bath and our new piglet will be opening Winter 2013!

First there was THE PIG, the award-winning New Forest retreat that set new standards in country hotels. Swiftly on its trotters came THE PIG–in the wall, livening up Southampton with its unique combination of luxury touches and homely charm. Now this most lauded of litters expands still further with the addition of Hunstrete House tucked in the folds of the Mendip Hills near Bath.

Hunstrete House is a mellow Georgian manor house idyllically situated with extensive grounds, a walled garden, fields and its own deer park. The hotel, which has been closed since April 2011, is expected to reopen before Christmas 2013.

THE PIG-near Bath will be designed in the same shabby chic style that has become THE PIG’s signature and will feature a restaurant, walled kitchen garden, 30 bedrooms in the house and garden and spa treatment rooms.

Robin Hutson, chief executive of Home Grown Hotels, parent company of THE PIG, commented “ We have had our eyes on this area for a while and the location just seven miles from Bath and 12 miles from Bristol is fantastic for us. It is far enough away from the existing Pigs not to be in competition, has great demographics and has always been an area renowned for great country house hotels – we are really looking forward to reviving this property and making it an integral part of the local scene again.”

Meanwhile THE PIG–on the beach, will launch in spring 2014 against the backdrop of one of England’s most glorious views above Studland Bay, Dorset.
