THE PIG Extends it's Litter...

8 August 2012

THE PIG is to gain a new sister on the coast with the opening of THE PIG - on the beach in 2013.

The creation of Robin Hutson, the nation's most inspired hotelier, together with co-Director David Elton and co investor Jim Ratcliffe, THE PIG - on the beach will be located above Studland Bay, Dorset, one of the most stunning beaches in England.

The beautiful 18th century Manor House, which is a National Trust property, is currently owned by Andrew and Karen Purkis and they will continue to operate the hotel until the end of November this year.

The listed hotel with slightly eccentric architecture was originally the holiday home for the Bankes Family from nearby Kingston Lacey, it is surrounded by 22 acres of farmland and borders the coastal path, it has dramatic views of Old Harry Rocks and the Jurassic Coast.

The hotel will close for extensive refurbishment and it is expected to reopen in June 2013. Like its sibling in the forest, THE PIG - on the beach  will feature a kitchen garden of home-grown produce.

Hutson said that this is the second time he has attempted to acquire this property, the first being after he sold Hotel du Vin Group in 2004.

He said: "It is a truly unique property being sited in a completely unspoilt piece of coastal countryside yet within easy striking distance of London, we are very much looking forward to this project and the opportunity of creating something very special for this part of the country."

Earlier this month THE PIG also announced it would be opening its second property, The Pig - in the wall, in Southampton docks this autumn.
